Have you ever consistently stuck with a workout plan and felt like it just didn’t work for you? You hear all the hype about this routine or diet everyone is trying and get really pumped up to attempt it. Then it seems that months go by and you are seeing little to no progress. Most of us have been there and done that. Everybody is different and should be treated as such. Everyone’s “ideal body” is different and your goals should be tailored to what will make you happy at the end of each day. Unfortunately, when it comes to working out there isn’t just a one size fits all workout plan we can all stick to, but below are a few ways to help you figure out what’s best for you.
Make Sure You Enjoy It
You don’t have to be obsessed with your workout, but you should enjoy it. If you do something you enjoy, it’s easier to push past any resistance you may have on sticking with consistency. If you dread your workout or diet, then it is probably not the right program for you.
Is it Realistic?
Some of us have flexible schedules, while others may work 80+ hours a week, so our availability will be different. Make sure your time commitment is achievable and you aren’t wearing yourself thin chopping vegetables for thirty minutes every day followed by weightlifting for an hour and a half. Start your workout plan with a time that’s manageable for you, without hesitation. If this goes well, you can always add additional time in later.
Some people like to join studios, while other prefer virtual communities. It is always nice to surround yourself with people who have the same goals and are motivated like you. There are hundreds of online forums you can join in on or consider joining a local studio in your area and attending class regularly. This will also help keep you motivated and hold you accountable.
Track Your Progress
Be sure to check and see how you are doing every few months. Are you able to complete your workouts at a quicker pace? Are you lifting heavier weights? Are you doing more reps? You can also measure yourself physically by weight or body measurements.
